OUR SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
We’re making on-trend fashion more sustainable and accessible to everyone by transitioning our products to be made with lower environmental impact.
In fact, it’s our mission to fully transition to quality sustainably made, lower impact materials for all of our products, while producing on-trend, high quality garments at accessible prices.
We’ve made good progress so far, currently 20% of our range is sustainably made using lower impact materials (defined as 20% of styles from our total full priced range). We’re committed to making more progress, with at least 60% of our range sustainably made by 2025, and 100% as soon as possible.
At Princess Polly, we have pioneered a new fashion manufacturing model that we call Demand Fashion.
Typically the fashion industry has ordered products 6-12 months in advance, without knowing what will sell and how much inventory to keep, leading to unwanted, wasted stock.
With our close factory relationships we are able to produce products with a short lead time of 3-6 weeks. This allows us to manufacture our products in small quantities based on customer demand, and avoid the environmental burden of overproduction. We aim to use our Demand Fashion model, combined with lower impact, more sustainable materials to produce a better overall environmental outcome.
Our Lower Impact range is created using materials that (you guessed it) have a lower environmental impact. On average, each item is created with 80% lower impact materials, but all items in this range must consist of at least 50%. Not just any item can wear the tick of approval!

QUALITY, CARE AND CIRCULARITY
We are serious about circularity. For us, circular fashion is all about creating smartly designed and great quality products in line with demand, helping you take care and keep them for longer.
We’re proud that our garments are made from high quality materials – which means that with a bit of TLC, your favorite Princess Polly pieces can last season after season. Our Princess Polly Care Guide is a first step in giving you all the right resources to keep your fav pieces looking fresh and fab (and the planet will thank you, too!).
When you no longer wear your items, this doesn’t have to be the end of the story either. We’re educating our customers on the best options to give these pieces another life: it may be with a new owner, by reselling or donating, or by recycling the materials to turn them into something new.
CUTE FASHION, MINUS ANY CRUELTY
We love animals, which is why we’re super serious about animal cruelty. We’re a Fur Free Retailer and have worked with Four Paws, a global animal welfare organisation, to prepare our animal welfare policy (which you can check out here). Our animal welfare policy sets out our expectations around animal welfare for our employees and suppliers, and covers the animal derived materials we ban and allow, animal testing, and the inclusion of animals in our marketing.
For the animal materials that we do still work with, we require suppliers to practice good animal husbandry, and adopt the Five Freedoms of animal welfare by the Farm Animal Welfare Council. Currently, less than 1% of Princess Polly’s products are derived from animal products, and by 2024 we will be a completely vegan business! We’ve already launched a vegan edit, where all the Princess Polly products are Peta-Approved Vegan.
